Winter School Officially Launches at HSUHK, Marking the Start of a Cross-Cultural Learning Journey

On 25 January 2026, the Winter School jointly organised by the School of Transdisciplinary Studies and the Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) officially launched its first day. 23 bachelor’s students from several universities across different provinces began their week-long academic journey, marking the start of an immersive cross-cultural learning experience in Hong Kong.

Upon arrival at the HSUHK campus, participants were warmly welcomed during the opening session. The Welcome Remark was delivered by Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Provost and Vice-President (Academic & Research) of HSUHK, Dean of the Graduate School, and Director of the School of Transdisciplinary Studies. In his address, Professor Mok welcomed the students and expressed his hope that they would enjoy their time at the University and in Hong Kong. He also encouraged students to broaden their global perspectives through interdisciplinary learning and active engagement.

Following the welcome session, the first academic lecture, “Managing Social Change and Challenges for Public Management”, was delivered by Dr. Wan Kin Man, Lecturer of the School of Transdisciplinary Studies. The lecture explored how governments and public institutions respond to complex social transformations, offering participants valuable insights into governance challenges in contemporary societies. During the discussion session, students actively participated by sharing ideas and raising questions, creating a dynamic and interactive learning atmosphere.

The successful opening day set a positive tone for the programme ahead. In the following days, students will further explore Hong Kong’s social governance, public institutions, and cultural heritage through lectures, workshops, and site visits, deepening their understanding of the city while strengthening cross-cultural exchange.
