Master of Arts in Strategic Communication

School of Transdisciplinary Studies (STS) and School of Communication (SCOM) collaborate in the teaching of Master of Arts in Strategic Communication. This partnership strengthens the programme’s interdisciplinary focus by incorporating perspectives from governance, public policy, and digital transformation.

STS will offer the following 2 major electives:

STS5001 Digital Governance in the Public Sector: Management and Communication Issues

This course explores the challenges and opportunities of using digital technologies in public service delivery and management through applied, hands-on learning. Students participate in policy forum activities, presenting policy briefs and research based on real-world governance issues while taking on the roles of key stakeholders. The course emphasises effective communication with diverse audiences and provides practical experience through field studies at public institutions. Students will develop essential skills in digital governance, policymaking, and change leadership.

STS5002 Politics, Law and Digital Governance

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the relationship between digital governance and its political and legal dimensions. It examines how digital technologies shape governance, alongside key issues such as regulation, ethics, security, and policy communication. Students will learn to craft persuasive messages for diverse audiences and understand the factors influencing the effectiveness of digital governance initiatives. The course equips students with practical knowledge applicable to policy formulation, strategic communication, and implementation across various professional contexts.

These two electives are available to students enrolled in Master of Arts in Strategic Communication programme.
