Welcome to the School of Transdisciplinary Studies (STS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

In an age of rapid change and growing complexity, many of the issues confronting our world — from technological transformation and climate change to public health, social inequality, and sustainable development — cannot be fully understood through the lens of a single discipline. They call instead for broader perspectives, deeper collaboration, and more integrative ways of thinking that connect academic knowledge with the realities of society.

This is the distinctive value of transdisciplinary studies. By bringing together diverse fields of knowledge, perspectives, and forms of expertise, transdisciplinary studies open new possibilities for inquiry, learning, and innovation. They encourage critical reflection, creativity, and collaboration, while also strengthening the capacity of higher education to respond meaningfully to the challenges of our time.

At HSUHK, the School of Transdisciplinary Studies serves as a platform for learning, research, and engagement that reaches across conventional boundaries. Guided by the University’s “Liberal + Professional” education model, the School values both strong disciplinary foundations and the integration of knowledge in addressing contemporary issues.

STS welcomes students, colleagues, partners, and members of the wider community to explore the promise of transdisciplinary studies and to take part in shaping ideas, connections, and responses for a changing world.
