On 19 September 2025, the Graduate School (GS) and School of Transdisciplinary Studies (STS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) proudly hosted a special event for students and parents at HSUHK (Nansha) Centre. The special event welcomed around 30 participants who are interested in learning about studies in Hong Kong and the recent developments of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. The day began with a warm welcome from Professor Ka Ho Mok, Provost and Vice President (Academic and Research) of the HSUHK, setting a positive tone for the event.

The participants were introduced to the dedicated academic and administrative staff of STS. Dr. Shirie Ho presented a comprehensive overview of STS, highlighting its unique approach to education that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries. Following this introduction, the participants had the chance to share their backgrounds and aspirations in a self-introduction segment, fostering camaraderie and a strong sense of community.

After a refreshing tea break, the atmosphere became more interactive with an icebreaker game led by Dr. Rainie Ke. This engaging activity encouraged the participants to connect with one another, paving the way for future collaborations and friendships. Participants also benefited from two enlightening sessions on studying in Hong Kong. Dr. Kin Man Wan shared insights from an academic perspective, while other team members offered their personal experiences and perspectives of studying and living in Hong Kong, providing invaluable advice to participants who plan to study in Hong Kong.
In the afternoon, the team had lunch with the participants, creating an ideal setting for informal discussions and networking. This gathering fostered a sense of community, as everyone shared their hopes and expectations for their time at Hang Seng University and their experiences studying in Hong Kong.

Special Seminar offered by Professor Joshua Mok
After lunch, a special seminar was held for the participants, focusing on “Globalization, Development and Social Change,” presented by Professor Ka Ho Mok. This session aimed to introduce participants to the global perspectives in higher education management and the opportunities available to them. Good dialogues between the speaker and the participants were promoted during the seminar.
Student Survey on Hong Kong as a Destination for Further Studies
As the event ended, a survey was conducted to assess the participants’ interest in pursuing further studies in Hong Kong after completing their professional training programme. 89% of the participants reported that they plan to continue their studies in Hong Kong following their professional training. This strong interest underscores the appeal of higher education in the region and reflects the supportive environment fostered by STS.

The event not only equipped the participants with essential information but also instilled a profound sense of belonging within the STS and HSUHK community. GS and STS look forward to supporting the students as they embark on this transformative journey, fostering innovation, collaboration, and global perspectives in higher education.
