Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), was interviewed by the Chief Executive’s Policy Unit (CEPU) to share the findings of a research project funded under the “Public Policy Research (PPR) Funding Scheme”. In a new recognition initiative launched this year, the CEPU presented Professor Mok with a letter of appreciation, highly commending HSUHK’s contributions to public policy research and government policy formulation.
The funded project, titled ‘Strategies to Attract and Retain High-calibre Talents to Pursue Further Studies at Doctorate Level in Hong Kong for Nurturing Specialised Talents that will Contribute to Hong Kong’s Development‘, compared international best practices and confirmed Hong Kong’s core competitiveness in areas such as generous funding support, comprehensive policy measures, and a vibrant academic environment. The study demonstrates significant progress in establishing Hong Kong as an international education hub and attracting top global talent.
In the interview, Professor Mok emphasised that the true value of research lies in its “practical” application and its capacity to drive social progress. “Our findings not only provide an evidence base for government decision-making but are also expected to translate directly into actionable policy measures, helping Hong Kong become a premier gathering place for international high-calibre talent,” he said. HSUHK will continue to promote diversified academic research to support the city’s ambition of developing into a leading international education hub.
