The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) welcomed Dr. Kris Hartley, Assistant Professor of Sustainability and Enterprise at Arizona State University, to the HSUHK campus on 30 June 2026 for discussions on sustainability education, research and international collaboration.
During the visit, Dr. Hartley met with Prof. Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) cum Director of the School of Transdisciplinary Studies (STS); Prof. Wong Muk Yan, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Science and Director of the Common Core Curriculum; and Dr. Rainie Ke Guoguo, Lecturer in STS. Prof. Mok introduced HSUHK’s latest developments and strategic initiatives, while Prof. Wong shared the distinctive features of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) Programme. The discussion also highlighted the International Classroom initiative organised by STS, and Dr. Ke introduced the School of Transdisciplinary Studies and its latest postgraduate programme developments.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on sustainability education, internationalisation and interdisciplinary teaching. Both parties explored potential opportunities for guest lectures, research seminars, collaborative research and academic exchanges, reflecting their shared commitment to advancing sustainability through teaching, research and global engagement.
Dr. Hartley’s research focuses on the circular economy, ESG and business sustainability, public policy and risk governance, and technology-enabled governance and smart cities. His expertise aligns closely with HSUHK’s commitment to advancing sustainability and fostering international collaboration in higher education.
HSUHK looks forward to continuing the dialogue with Dr. Hartley and exploring opportunities for future collaboration to enrich teaching, research and global academic engagement.
