Mission
The School of Transdisciplinary Studies (STS) aims to nurture graduates who are compassionate professionals with global and regional perspectives. They will be equipped to address complex and contemporary social, economic, technological, and human development challenges from interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives. Guided by a humanitarian ethos, STS seeks to train young professionals to push beyond the boundaries of single disciplines or traditional paradigms in solving problems. They will actively collaborate with diverse stakeholders to drive meaningful social change and contribute to the betterment of humanity.
Roles
- Offering multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to address global and regional challenges;
- Promoting interdisciplinary/ transdisciplinary studies programmes through cross-school cooperation and inter-university collaboration;
- Establishing regional and international research platforms in support of new interdisciplinary/ transdisciplinary studies programmes;
- Engaging with different stakeholders in co-creating excellent experiential learning opportunities for students;
- Fostering constructive and meaningful collaborations across schools/ universities for interdisciplinary/ transdisciplinary research;
- Promoting adoption and integration of artificial intelligence, data science and other modern technologies in education and work through internal and external collaboration;
- Exploring the new HSUHK Young Scholar Programme which allows talented, high-flying new UG students to pursue a cross-disciplinary, problem-based tailored-made major programme
