Professor Mok Ka Ho, Joshua, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), was invited by the Guangdong Association of Higher Education to deliver a keynote speech at the Symposium on Higher Education Innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The event, themed “Innovating Higher Education for the Transformation of Modern Industries“, took place on 28 June 2025 in Hengqin, China. The symposium was jointly organised by the Guangdong Association of Higher Education and the Macau Higher Education Development Promotion Association (澳門高等教育發展促進會), hosted by Macau Millennium College, and co-organised by Guangdong University of Science and Technology and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
During his keynote speech, Professor Mok shared insights into the strategic development goals of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government in building Hong Kong as a leading international higher education hub in Asia. Drawing on HSUHK’s experience, he highlighted the University’s distinctive “Liberal + Professional” Education Model, which focuses on nurturing caring professionals with a global vision. He further emphasised HSUHK’s mission of “Care for Learning, Learning to Care” and “Research with Impact, Impact with Care”, underscoring the importance of engaging students in meaningful learning, impactful research, and broader community involvement.
Professor Mok’s participation and presentation at the symposium facilitated deeper collaboration opportunities between Hong Kong universities and institutions in the Greater Bay Area. These partnerships aim to enhance student learning experiences and faculty research initiatives, fostering innovation and growth in higher education across the region. Through this engagement, HSUHK continues to contribute to the development of higher education in the Greater Bay Area, strengthening ties and advancing shared goals for academic excellence and industry transformation.
