JC YUP (“The Project”) is a pioneering five-year initiative created and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The project supports youth through three critical youth developmental junctures: the transition to early secondary school, where Youth-Led Accomplishment (YLA) helps create proud moments through agency and identity formation; the transition to upper secondary, where it helps students understand their options through SLASH for meaningful workplace planning; and the transition to the workplace, where the Professional Traineeship (PT) programme offers eye-opening diverse pathways, building up resilience to progress.
JC YUP PT is supported by industry partners including The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK). It focuses on broadening DSE graduates’ access to diverse career pathways beyond conventional academic routes. PT is a structured 2-year traineeship adopting a work-study mode, including qualification attainment, to prepare youth for future development and mobility. It also helps to prepare career readiness and enhance future employability of youth to suitable entry-level talent into high-growth sectors with strong manpower needs, creating a win-win-win solution for society, employers and youth.
HSUHK is chartered to deliver accredited programmes that are responsive to learners’ needs in the areas of Creative Industries and Management, Sports Marketing and Event Management, Technology and Social Care Management, and support youth transitions to further studies or into the workforce.
The School of Transdisciplinary Studies hosted a campus tour on 7 July 2026 for over 40 students, offering them an opportunity to learn more about the vision of JC YUP PT, its programme offerings and potential articulation pathway. Through the visit, HSUHK hopes to give the potential students better understanding of the programme design and gather their feedback to inform and refine its youth centric design principles.
Following the talk by Dr. Shirie Ho, participants joined a guided campus tour, during which they were introduced to the University’s latest virtual reality technology. They also visited the Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab, where they gained a better understanding of media production facilities, creative technologies and practical learning opportunities available on campus.
The visit aimed to broaden students’ exposure to university education and support their preparation for future study planning. Through the programme, the School of Transdisciplinary Studies reaffirmed its commitment to engaging with the wider community and nurturing students’ interest in interdisciplinary learning and emerging technologies.
